Carter Law Group is pleased to welcome Betty Akoh as its newest Associate Attorney.

Betty brings a global background, extensive regulatory experience, and a strong commitment to business and employment‑based immigration law. As an immigrant herself, she approaches her work with empathy and a deep understanding of the challenges clients face.

“Betty’s combination of legal experience, global perspective, and unwavering dedication to clients makes her an exceptional addition to our team,” said Kirk Carter, Managing Attorney. “Her insights, rooted in both her professional and lived experience,
strengthen the thoughtful, strategic advocacy we strive to provide to each and every client.”

Betty began her legal career in Nigeria before relocating to the United States, where she worked in regulatory affairs at Northeastern University, managing multi‑jurisdictional compliance initiatives. This regulatory foundation enhances her ability to guide clients through complex immigration matters.

She brings experience with EB‑1A, EB‑2 NIW, EB‑4, adjustment of status, work authorization, and change‑of‑status applications, along with pro bono work. “From the moment we met Betty, it was clear she brings not only technical excellence but also genuine empathy and commitment,” added Attorney Kate Lebeaux.

Betty holds an LL.M. from Northeastern University School of Law and an M.A. from Brandeis University. She is admitted to practice in New York and Nigeria. At Carter Law Group, she will support a broad array of immigration matters for businesses, innovators, global talent, and individuals seeking opportunities in the United States.
